Mamma Mia! storms the Southern Highlands Furey Theatre Company (FTC) are pleased to announce that they have secured the rights to Mamma Mia! for December 2020. The spectacular stage show, already seen by more than 60 million people worldwide, will be presented at Clubbe Hall in Mittagong from 10-20 December, 2020. FTC President, Andrew Forbes, said that it would be a much anticipated event as it was the first time the show had been performed locally. Furey Theatre Company (formerly On 4 Young & Old Productions) was the creative brainchild of Alex & John Rapp and Andrew & Lucy Forbes, bringing the Willy Russell classic “Shirley Valentine” to the stage. They were soon joined by Michael Turczynski and David Furey and there followed a string of successful productions – “Fawlty Towers”, “Educating Rita”, and two versions of “Blackadder”. Sadly, David Furey succumbed to cancer just over a year ago, and in his memory, and with his family’s consent, the group was re-named Furey Theatre Company. FTC have won two Canberra Area Theatre (CAT) Awards, and have been nominated 10 times. There will be advertisements for production team positions for the Director, Assistant Director, Musical Director, and Choreographer on the website, and pre-auditions for lead roles will be held in the new year. Sponsorship arrangements with Southern Highland businesses will offer local companies an opportunity to raise their profile, with expectations that more than 5% of Highlanders are likely to attend the event. Anyone wishing to have involvement with Mamma Mia! is asked to contact Furey Theatre Company through their website – www.fureytheatre.org, or by sending an email to email@example.com giving details of their interest
